The Marianas represent a microcosm of the social and environmental challenges that affect so many communities across the world. Burdened by a legacy of colonization, habitat destruction, and militarization that dislocate indigenous communities from the land and sea, the Mariana Islands are on the frontlines of the struggle for environmental justice.
From invasive species to coral bleaching, from forest clearing to overfishing, from wildfire on land to sedimentation of our reefs, human activities have impacted our island communities from land to sea. We are here to build a better future for all islanders. Tåno, Tåsi, yan Todu (Land, Water, and All Therein) works to restore and preserve the land and sea for the people of the Mariana Islands. Our work is focused in three program areas:

FANINÅYAN

One of our goals is to establish a center to serve as a clearing house to compile and facilitate research on the Mariana Islands that is rooted in Indigenous knowledge and serves local communities.

With our many partners, we will engage community members with stakeholder-specific education and outreach materials to expand understanding of the function and importance of island ecosystems

Passion and knowledge without action accomplishes little. We will educate policy-makers on environmental issues and develop community-driven advocacy campaigns to address pressing environmental justice needs
